SWIMMING POOL DAMAGE

Swimming Pool Floated

At any given time in this region we may have a deluge of rain and sometimes a swimming pool doesn’t have enough drainage to deal with this problem and it raises up out of the ground, hence the term “floated pool”.

Vinyl liner pools have the problem of the liner "floating" up from the bottom and away from the sides of the pool because of water.  The pictures below deal with gunite pools, but we also have solutions for vinyl liner pools, so give us a call if you have a water problem.

It is rather a shock to walk out and look at your pool and find it lopsided and the concrete appears to have fallen away.

Sometimes this problem can be repaired.  Not all pools that have floated can be safely brought back to use again, but in this particular case we had a durable pool to work with.  These homeowners had a 3 foot shallow end going to an 8 foot deep end in their pool.  The spa originally was at the shallow end of the pool about 4 feet from the edge of the pool.  They decided that they would like to lessen the deep end  to 5 feet  have a spillover spa which would then overflow into the pool.

It was decided to put the spillover spa on the long edge of the pool to facilitate the view of the spillover from the house and deck.

The pool was leveled and the deep end was filled to a 5 foot depth.  New tile and coping were applied and a Diamond Briteâ finish was applied to the interior walls and floor of the pool.

The steps were difficult for the homeowner’s to navigate, so a new set of steps were built into the pool.

The pool also has a Spectrum Amerlite (SAM) in the wall under the spa overflow which allows the homeowner to change the color of the pool water environment.  Along with this is a remote controlled system that allows the homeowner to turn the pool on/off, spa on/off, or heater on/off from anywhere in the house or the yard.  The homeowner can start the spa, run out and jump in with the water at the temperature they want.

So what started out as a disaster turned out to be a delightful pool for the entire family.
